Meet The Faculty
Catherine Battersby
Honors CoordinatorCatherine Battersby joined the Culver Academies' Humanities Department in 2001. She earned a bachelor's degree in classical languages at Carleton College, and a master's degree (ABD) in Classics from Princeton University with concomitant work at the American School of Classical Studies in Athens. Her areas of study and teaching interests include Classical and European Studies. She currently teaches AP European Studies, Freshman Humanities, and The Renaissance City; she has taught on the Spoleto Study Abroad summer program for the past two summers and serves as Honors Coordinator for the department. Prior to arriving at the Culver Academies, she taught Classics and Humanities at Princeton, Denison, the Claremont Colleges, NEC-Arundel, and TASIS-England American School.
In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Mrs. Battersby currently is the advisor to the student-run newspaper, the Vedette. Her husband Richard Battersby teaches American Studies at Culver, and they have two daughters.
