Jason Nicholson

Program Chair

Jason Nicholson comes to Culver Academies from Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam, WI, where he taught courses in Justice and Public Morality, Logic, the History of Philosophy, World History, American Government and American Literature.  Prior to teaching at Wayland Academy, Jason spent five years teaching in Texas, both at private secondary schools, where he taught Literature, History, and Theology, and at the University of Dallas, where he taught generally in the Western theological tradition.


Jason earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and theology from the Franciscan University in Ohio. He further earned a masters degree in Philosophy from the University of Dallas, where he specialized in questions concerning political justice, ethics and public morality.  Jason went on to earn a second masters degree in the history of Philosophy from Marquette University. Jason is currently finishing his Ph.D. from Marquette University, where he is writing his doctoral dissertation on the conceptual relationship between education and propaganda. His area of specialty is in justice and public morality and theories of education. His other areas of research include studies in the philosophy of Race and post-capitalist, democratic theory.  Jason is a regular contributor to In Socrates Wake, an online consortium of philosophers who write on teaching and the teaching of philosophy.
