Susan Freymiller deVillierDirector of Huffington Library
Susan Freymiller deVillier joined the Culver Academies’ Huffington Library as the director in July 2008. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology/Secondary Education and her Master’s in Library Information Science from the University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana). She is a member of Beta Phi Mu (Alpha Chapter), the International Honor Society for Library and Information Science. Mrs. Freymiller deVillier teaches with the Leadership Department and coordinates the levels for the integrated freshman course, Living Learning, and Leading, and the newly integrated sophomore Leadership course, Thinking and Teaming. In addition to overseeing the library program and sitting on the Department Chair and Curriculum committee, she is a member of the Evening Learning Support coordinating team and serves as an academic coach. She also chairs the Huffington Scholarship committee.
Prior to arriving at Culver Academies, Mrs. Freymiller deVillier worked as the Library Media Specialist at NorthWood High School for nine years and in public relations and programming at the Nappanee Public Library for three years. While at NorthWood, she was the Science Team coach for six years during which time her team brought home three state championships. She was also the National Honor Society sponsor and a Department Chair. She served on two technology grant teams and was an adjunct faculty member of Ivy Tech Community College where she taught an information studies and research skills course.
Mrs. Freymiller deVillier resides in Culver with her husband, David deVillier, who is a painter and sculptor and works out of his two studios in Sun Valley, Idaho and Plymouth, Indiana.
