The Marty and Julie Klapper Summer Study Grant in the Visual Arts
The Marty and Julie Klapper Summer Study Grants in the Visual Arts for 2012 are sponsored by Julie and Marty Klaper CMA ’65 to generously support specially selected Culver students in their summer studies in the visual arts. The 2012 Marty and Julie Klaper Summer Study Grants in the Visual Arts will allow rising Seniors and 1st Classmen at Culver Academies to pursue an independent study or summer education project in full or partial support. Grant applicants should consider designing projects to be funded from $250 to $750 dollars.
Qualifications and Process:
1. Klaper Summer Study Grant applicants must be in good standing, academically and socially, and will normally have completed at least two courses in the Visual Arts when they apply for the Grant.
2. Applicants will submit a portfolio of five pieces for judging, accompanied by an artist statement explaining their work in no more than 300 words. Portfolios and artist statements will be submitted electronically.
3. Klaper Summer Study Grant applications should also describe the proposed summer learning experience in no more than 300 words– i.e., what one would hope to accomplish as an artist during a summer experience through independent work, summer tutorial or short local learning experience.
4. Applicants will need to submit a detailed budget for supplies and costs in need of funding.
5. Applications will be provided in mid January and are to be submitted by midnight March13, 2012.
6. Applications will be evaluated in consideration of the strength of the applicant, feasibility and merit of the overall proposal, and potential for successful completion.
7. Grants will be announced at the beginning of the Fourth Term
