The American High School Theatre Festival relies on directors from state, regional, and national theatre associations to nominate the nation’s top high school theatre programs. Each nominated school receives an application. The AHSTF Board of Advisors, made up of college drama professionals, reviews all completed applications. Top high school programs are identified based on their most recent bodies of work, honors and awards, technical ability and philosophies of teaching theatre. Selected schools are notified a year in advance in order to plan for their performances on the international stage at the world’s largest theatrical event, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, in Edinburgh Scotland.

August 2011 will mark Culver Academies’ second trip to the AHSTF with a performance of a new original musical comedy written for the event. The actors and techies from the Academies will join 15 other top high school theatre programs from the U.S. and Canada for the chance to entertain theatre lovers from around the world. They will perform four times at the Fringe between August 19th and 24th. The group will also be able to see the works of many of the over 3,000 other companies that perform this year at the Fringe. Culver Academies will once again be on a world stage.
