Music

Music is a World within itself with a Language we all Understand. – Stevie Wonder

Culver offers diverse opportunities for students who are developing their musical interests and skills. Multiple curricular and extra-curricular activities and ensembles are available to students each year. There are several opportunities to perform in collaboration with visiting artists and other professional groups on campus as well as through traveling groups. Students have even performed in Carnegie Hall!

Enabling the Novice Musician
It is very common for a student to come to Culver with little to no knowledge of music. Culver’s exceptional music program offers a variety of support for the beginning musician. Instrumental music programs regularly accommodates over 150 musicians in band, jazz band, orchestra, and choir classes. From beginner classes to private music lessons, Culver’s professional instructors will have a beginning student playing or singing at an exceptional level by the end of their first year.

For the Advanced Musician
Students who already have a grasp on music have a variety of options to take their experience to the next level. Private music lessons are offered in piano, voice, brass, woodwind, string, and percussion instruments, as well as guitar and bagpipes. In a typical week, 160 students will study with our six full-time instructors or eight adjunct specialists. For those looking for more depth, or perhaps to further their studies in music at the college level, the Honors in Music program may be worth considering.
