Quizbowl is an interscholastic team competition which pits two teams of four against each other to answer questions from all fields, including literature, history, science, mathematics, the arts, and current events. More information on quizbowl in general can be found here.

The Culver Academies Quizbowl program was founded in 2004. In March 2009, the team won the Indiana State Championship. In addition, the team has accumulated numerous trophies over the past five years: Four Conference Championships, five trips to the Sweet Sixteen of the State Championship, including one third-place finish at State, six tournament victories, and an overall record of 275-131 (67.7% winning percentage).

The quizbowl program was founded by Head Coach Phil Blessman, who continues to lead the program. Coach Blessman has been coaching quizbowl since 2000. Coach Blessman’s career coaching record is 468-183 (71.9 % winning percentage).

Today, the program continues to be the most active quizbowl program in the State of Indiana, and one of the twenty most active programs in the country. The Varsity squad competes in over a dozen tournaments each year, and is currently hosting four different home tournaments. Younger players get a start in quizbowl through the school’s Frosh/Soph team, which has a shorter season including about a half dozen tournaments.
