Ireland

Educational/Service/Cultural

March 20 – April 1, 2013

Join us on a wonderful trip to the beautiful “Emerald Isle” of Ireland.  This will be Culver’s 3rd Spring Break in Mission trip to the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Various historic sites in Belfast, Derry, Silgo and Dublin will be visited. We will visit the new Belfast Titanic exhibit where the Titanic was built. The team will spend a few days at the Corrymeela Centre in Ballycastle.  The Corrymeela center is dedicated to teaching peace and reconciliation in a beautiful setting near the sea.  Students and adults come from all over the world to work at this centre.  Students will have the opportunity to interact with the volunteers throughout their stay to learn about conflict resolution.  Our second service project will be in Derry with the Conservation Volunteers of Northern Ireland and at Creggan Country Park where we will work with other Irish students on preserving the ecology of the area.  There will be free time at the Derry Youth Center with Irish students their own age. Students will learn about the history and culture of Ireland throughout the trip and will have a full day of Gaelic cultural immersion in the village of Cnoc Suain. Students will have the opportunity to attend Easter church services in Dublin if they desire.  Contact Dean Rasch Lynn.Rasch@culver.org at 574-842-8146 for details.  Estimated cost: $3,970.
