Cathy Tulungen joined the Department of Classical and Foreign Languages in 2004. Prior to coming to Culver, she lived in Indonesia and was a teacher trainer and taught English and linguistics at the university level for over 15 years. She earned a bachelor’s degree in German from Middlebury College in 1986 and a master’s degree in TESOL from the School for International Training in 1988. Her areas of study and teaching interest include ESOL, English for Academic Purposes, and German. She currently teaches ESOL/English 1 and beginning German. Ms. Tulungen is the International Student Program Coordinator in Academic Affairs. She is a member of the Learning Support Committee and the Diversity Council. 

She enjoys helping students in her supervisory duties in evening study halls. She is a faculty advisor for the Muslim students on campus, assists in the intramural program and is occasionally a reader for the Culver Quiz Bowl program. Ms. Tulungen is married to J. Johnnes Tulungen, an instructor in the Leadership Department, and has two sons.
