The Mission

The Psychological Service Team’s Mission is to provide collaborative, competent and individualized interventions to increase the students/campers functioning.  We believe in a holistic approach to addressing the needs of the student/camper that is in the line of Culver’s Mission of Mind, Body, and Spirit. The Psychological Team will work towards a positive and unobtrusive solution to insure that every student/camper is supported to make their commitment to Culver the most productive experience possible.

The Services

Our Psychological Service Team is staffed with a variety of trained, certified, and licensed professionals. The team provides on-call 24-hour support for Academy Students and Summer Campers. The Psychological Team provides a diverse range of services, including: short-term crisis intervention, brief solution-focused problem-solving counseling, groups based on student needs (for example, Divorce Group, Healthy Eating & Body Image Group), relationship conflict resolution, and different modalities of play therapy.

We are team oriented and when appropriate, will work with varying departments to assist in meeting the student’s needs.  Two unique features of our services is specifically addressing academic related stress and assisting students through spiritual guidance. Our school psychologists work closely with the students through coaching and individual learning plans to increase the student’s academic competency and reduce unnecessary anxiety. Spiritual Life staff provides opportunities for students to learn self-soothing techniques like meditation and to reflect on their values and relationships through short-term, goal-specific spiritual direction. 

The Team

The team provides education concerning healthy living topics to students and offers training seminars to Culver staff when requested. Our Team also has a professional referral network that we utilize in order to support the student individual needs with approval of the parent or guardian. The Psychological Service Team will inform and include the parents to assist in our services when appropriate.
