Darrell Garbacik

Project Coordinator

Darrell Garbacik joined the Facilities Department on September 29, 2008. As Project Coordinator, Darrell plans, directs and coordinates activities of designated projects for the facilities and properties of the Culver Educational Foundation to ensure that goals and objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters. Darrell’s education is in Organizational Leadership and Supervision, and he earned Bachelor of Science and Associate in Applied Science degrees from Purdue University in 1992 and 1991 respectively, as well as an Associate in Arts degree in Management in 1988 from Ball State University. Darrell also received a Human Resources Certificate from Purdue.

Darrell accomplished a very successful 17-year career with the City of Michigan City before joining Culver Academies. During his tenure he served as Superintendent of Parks & Recreation for six years and Recreation Director for eight years. His background included representing the Park Board as owner and stewards of over 600 acres of parkland. His experience in rehabilitating historical and antiquated facilities and structures, and implementing new facilities, provides distinctive and diverse perspectives toward project management.

Mr. Garbacik is active in sports and recreation serving as the Indiana State Director for the Baseball Players Association. He serves on the National Softball Associations’ Advisory Board and Purdue University North Central’s Athletic Advisory Board. He has been an assistant high school football and baseball coach. Mr. Garbacik is married to Laura and they have two sons, Drake and Dayne.
